PanAfrica! Quick Pickled Onions
These quick pickled onions are perfect for topping any protein including beans and eggs. We love it for the tangy, slightly sweet, bite of flavor it adds to tacos, sandwiches, and burgers. We made these for our Crispy Fryday Chicken Wraps and the flavor was mouth watering! Do you like pickled onions?
1/2 red onion
1 cup white vinegar
1 tbsp salt
3 tbsp sugar
Add all ingredients except onions to a pot on medium hear and stir. Bring liquid to a simmer. Once sugar and salt is dissolved, add onions to the pot and stir. Make sure to coat all of the onions with the liquid. Allow to liquid come back to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes or until onions are translucent. Take off heat and pour onions with liquid into a heat proof container. Allow to cool before refrigerating. Can keep in the fridge up to 5 days.
